By Janné Grover

And as many as did come unto them, and did truly repent of their sins, were baptized in the name of Jesus; and they did also receive the Holy Ghost. And they had all things common among them, therefore they were not rich and poor, bond and free, but they were all made free, and partakers of the heavenly gift.

4 Nephi 1:2, 4

How can we nurture our quest for justice and peace today amid systems that oppress? How are we called to kingdom living that represents all the dimensions of Christ’s peace?
Choose Hope!

It is easy to feel overwhelmed by conditions of human suffering. There are times we even knowingly and unknowingly contribute to systems of injustice.
Choose Hope!

Jesus did not bring back a kingdom hoped for by the people; he ushered in a new kingdom. We are called to do the same.
Choose Hope!

We are reminded that every act of kindness, every relationship nurtured, every responsible choice, every act of justice, every voice given to the voiceless, and every door of welcome flung open wide is a step on our journey toward the peaceable kingdom.
Choose Hope!

May the hope we find in the merging of God’s creation lead us into actions of justice and peace.
May we step boldly into what can be.

Prayer Phrase

“Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; persevere in prayer” (Romans 12:12).

Deepening Roots

A tree with superficial roots will wither during drought, or severe storms may uproot it. A tree whose roots go deep is stable and draws from deep waters. Imagine yourself as a tree by a river or stream. Sense your roots extending deep into the earth in search of God’s Spirit. Reflect or pray about what you hope to find as your spirit searches for deeper identity in God.
