About the Initiative
As part of Peace Forum 2026, Seeds of Peace: Environmental Justice and Action, we are collecting donated materials for a Creative Reuse Pop-Up. This initiative reflects our commitment to the Sacredness of Creation.
Instead of purchasing new materials, we are choosing to reuse what already exists, reducing waste and sharing resources in creative, equitable ways. Donated items will support creative activities, community engagement, and environmental stewardship throughout Peace Forum.
This effort is rooted in the values of Community of Christ, where sustainability, generosity, and creativity work together to build stronger communities.
Together, we can turn surplus into seeds of hope.
Donation Drop-Off Details
Location: Temple Front Desk (201 South River Blvd., Independence, MO 64050, USA)
Days: Wednesdays and Thursdays
Time: 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Central Time USA
Beginning: July 2026
People traveling to Independence for Peace Forum may also bring donations on Friday, 16 October 2026, the first day of the event.
Please ensure all donated items are clean, usable, and appropriate for community use.
Materials We Are Collecting
ART AND CRAFT SUPPLIES
Yarn, thread, ribbon, trim, fabric scraps, buttons, beads, sequins, craft embellishments, paint brushes, palette knives, acrylic paint, markers, colored pencils, crayons, pastels, glue sticks, tape, stamps, ink pads, stickers, scrapbooking materials, and craft kits.
PAPER AND OFFICE SUPPLIES
Cardstock, construction paper, specialty paper, envelopes, file folders, notebooks, journals, sketchbooks with blank pages, poster board, foam board, index cards, and sticky notes.
CLASSROOM AND MINISTRY SUPPLIES
Bulletin board materials, educational manipulatives, curriculum craft supplies, and seasonal decorations suitable for children’s activities.
BUILDING AND MAKING MATERIALS
Cardboard tubes, cork, felt, craft foam, untreated wood pieces, tile and mosaic pieces, bottle caps, lids, jars, containers, and other reusable creative components.
SEWING AND TEXTILE SUPPLIES
Sewing notions, zippers, elastic, bias tape, knitting needles, crochet hooks, embroidery hoops, and related sewing materials.
REUSABLE BAGS
Reusable tote bags, grocery bags, and promotional bags that are clean and free from inappropriate language or imagery.
Traveling to Peace Forum?
Visitors from outside the Independence, USA, area may bring donations on Friday, 16 October 2026.
Non-Accepted Items
For the safety of volunteers and participants, we cannot accept:
- Clothing, shoes, or accessories
- Household décor or kitchen items
- Furniture
- Electronics or cords
- Food or perishable items
- Broken, dirty, or moldy materials
- Hazardous or toxic materials
- Open or dried-out paint, glue, or chemicals
- Medical supplies
