Carla Long is a bishop, serving as counselor to the Presiding Bishop at Community of Christ International Headquarters.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa, USA. She later earned a master’s degree in education from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a second master’s degree from Graceland—in Christian ministries.
Before full-time employment with the church, Carla was a mathematics teacher at Fort Osage High School in Independence, Missouri, USA. She served as a volunteer with the World Service Corps in the Philippines and Australia.
Carla became mission center financial officer at Sierra Pacific Mission Center and held the same position for the Western Europe and Eurasia Mission Center. Carla’s position before coming to International Headquarters was as a Latter-Day Seekers expansion minister in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.
Community of Christ has 250,000 members in more than 60 nations. The church’s mission is to “proclaim Jesus Christ and promote communities of joy, hope, love, and peace.”
