Resolutions to Reality

31 March 2026

By The First Presidency

From budgets and audits to nonviolence and climate change, the First Presidency is continuing its commitment to openness and accountability by sharing regular updates on actions taken in response to World Conference resolutions. The full-length version of this document is available online. These updates help members and friends see how World Conference decisions come to life.

1315, World Church Budgeting and Audit Process: implemented.

1330, Statement on Nonviolence: Teams are being reconstituted and chartered for the 2025–2028 interconference period. Charters will explore ways for the church to go deeper in implementing WCR 1330.

1331, Promoting Peace by Reducing Gun Proliferation and Violence: Teams being reconstituted.

1332, No Preambles: The Conference Organization and Procedure Team will work with the World Church secretary to implement WCR 1332. Guidance will be provided by June 2026.

1333, Climate Emergency—Fossil-fuel Reduction: Teams being reconstituted. Also, evaluation tools were updated and now used by the Presiding Bishopric and investment committee to guide investment consultants and managers toward decisions that reflect World Conference action and our Enduring Principles, specifically those related the fossil-fuel industry.

1334, Increasing Access to Creative Works: Implementation is being led by Formation Ministries.

1335, Bylaw Committee Review: An expanded corporate body met in September 2025. Key sections of the bylaws have been identified for possible revision at the 2028 World Conference.

1336, Climate Change Emergency Call for Action: Through institutional action and educational programming, the church is executing these resolves. Plans include undertaking major energy-efficiency projects and converting the church’s fleet vehicles to hybrid models.

1337, Earth Stewardship Affirmation: Exterior building seals, offsetting carbon emissions, and a native-plant rooftop garden are part of the plans to implement 1337. Lighting has gone from fluorescent to LED in the Temple and, where possible, the Auditorium. The heating and cooling system in the Temple Complex is well beyond its useful life. It will be replaced over twelve months with a more efficient system.

1338, Affirming an Inclusive Zion in the Holy Land in conjunction—with WCR 1311 Israel and Palestine: Community of Christ, as a board member with Churches for Middle East Peace, supported several advocacy opportunities—the mission of which is to mobilize US Christians to embrace a holistic perspective and to advocate for equality, human rights, security, and justice for Israelis, Palestinians, and all Middle East people. See a global call for peace online.
