Ignite Hope

6 May 2025 | Katie Harmon-McLaughlin

When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.

As we prayerfully anticipate the Conference experience for the worldwide church, we also are moving through the Easter season. This is an important time of living the promise of resurrection, joy, hope, and new life in Christ. This season leads to the Pentecost experience in Acts 2, which is the scriptural focus for World Conference 2025.

An international team of spiritual leaders created a forty-day spiritual-preparation guide, inviting the church into intentional prayer, holy curiosity, and spiritual preparation. The questions, songs, and prayers were crafted by members from around the world. They represent important reflections, traditions, and practices from various cultures.

You are invited to pray with the question for each day and return to the images in the spiritual practice to ignite hope in our hearts as we spiritually prepare to gather from around the world.

Each week is structured around intentional invitations from the First Presidency, asking the church to embrace the Easter season as a time of prayer by following the movements of the prayer of examen. The prayer of examen is a reflective practice that helps us discern God’s presence and calling.

This ancient spiritual practice has been divided into six steps over the six weeks between Easter and the start of World Conference. Additionally, the Daily Bread is offering complementary spiritual practices and questions to guide our preparations.
