But a Samaritan while traveling came upon him, and when he saw him he was moved with compassion. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, treating them with oil and wine. Then he put him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
Imagine someone comes to you in the place
Of your deepest wound, deepest need,
And sees you, and cares for you.
How does it feel to be nurtured in this way?
The sacred intimacy of being seen and loved?
Imagine there is nothing you can do
But depend on someone else
And be loved and cared for, just for a while
As you slowly become more whole
Through rest and oil and wine and grace.
Imagine receiving this generosity of spirit,
Letting it permeate your being with healing love.
We are capable of being this for each other.
Prayer Phrase
Courage
Spiritual Practice
Breathe deeply and repeat the word “courage” in the silence. Notice how you respond in body, mind, and spirit. Practice the feeling of spiritual strength, of stretching beyond what is comfortable and familiar. Bless the feelings that are evoked. Breathe again. Trust that you have everything you need to follow the Spirit in the places where courage is required today.
