The Lamoni, Iowa (USA) Quilt Guild recently created an angel quilt for an aid-voucher program at the Lamoni Thrift Center, a store for those in need. The store is sponsored by Community of Christ.

The voucher program is administered by the Lamoni Thrift Center in partnership with Lamoni Ministerial Alliance, community police, fire department, food pantry, and local pastors.

Families in crisis are interviewed to determine how best to help with clothing, household goods, linens, and other items. The aid-voucher program helps families recover from fires, domestic insecurity, and financial crisis.

The quilt was intended to remind recipients that angels always surround and protect them.

During the winter months of 2021, members of the quilt guild were busy making angel blocks, including Dawn Egbert, Janeen Blakesley, Marian Killpack, Janie Neeley, Lisa Porter, Becky Long, Linda Phillips, Bobbie Ellis, Wilma Frey, Deborah Rowe, Imogene Brunner, Carol Crees, Natalie Anderson, and Debbie Hull.

The blocks were then sewn together by Becky Long, machine quilted by Lisa Porter, and Janeen Blakesley added the edge binding. Several of those sewing the quilt are Community of Christ members, but not all.

The quilt was intended to remind recipients that angels always surround and protect them.
