Year B Themes and Scriptures

2008-2009 THEMES AND SCRIPTURES (YEAR B)

Annual Theme: "Be a Sanctuary of Christ's Peace"

Four scriptures are provided for each Sunday. They are taken from the ecumenical Revised Common Lectionary and include, with a few exceptions, one Old Testament, one Psalm, one New Testament Gospel, and one New Testament Epistle reading from the Bible. This year Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants readings are not listed here for each Sunday; however, scriptures from these two books of Restoration scripture are included as appropriate in the suggested worship service outlines published in print, cd, and web versions of this resource. In recent years the designated Restoration scripture readings have not matched up well with Community of Christ themes and Bible readings of the day. By making this change, worship service authors have included Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants scriptures more frequently in their outlines as well as making them more applicable to the theme.

(Note: Inspired Version Bible verse numbers are noted where they differ;
bold
indicates scripture(s) to which theme is most closely tied.)
