World Ministries Contribution Update

World Ministries Contribution Update
Check here each month for the current status of World
Ministries contributions.
This information is also available on the Web at
www.CofChrist.org/worldministries.
The church received an estimated $700,000 in World Ministries
Mission Tithes in May 2008. Thank you! With one month left in the fiscal year we
now expect to receive a total of $10.2 million, $200,000 less than was budgeted. Your
faithful support of our worldwide ministries is creating the following possibilities
right now:
-
A Tangible Love Grant will help
children in Iowa have a camping experience that develops their coping skills,
strengthens their self-esteem, and makes the peace of Jesus Christ real for
them
-
Jackson, Ohio, has a thriving
weekly Young Peacemakers’ Club with fifty participants. Through this
connection six children and two adults were baptized last year, several
children and families attended camps this summer, and young people volunteered
to help others in the community. What was once a small gathering on Sundays is
now a bountiful fellowship. One young adult Young Peacemaker Club leader said,
“I finally feel like a part of the church.”
-
A microfinance project funded by a
Tangible Love Grant is allowing members and friends in rural China to set up
small businesses, helping to change lives for the better.
To learn more about how your generosity transforms lives, visit
the church’s website at
www.CofChrist.org/offertory. Thank you for
giving so generously.
*Due to manual reporting by some jurisdictions, actual income
will take several months to finalize.
If you have a question about this update, please contact the Presiding Bishopric
at presidingbishopric@CofChrist.org
or 1001 W. Walnut, Independence, MO
64050.
Disciples generally make contributions to the church during worship
services by using Mission Tithes offering
envelopes. Sharing equally with both Congregation Ministries and
World Ministries will help "meet the needs of a growing church."
