World Ministries Update

World Ministries Contribution Update
(July 2009)
Contributions remain below the goal for fiscal year 2009.
However, there has been a small increase in giving to World Ministries
Mission Tithes over a three month period. In comparison to the $10.5 million
budget, if the positive trend in giving is sustained we will receive about
$9.9 million in World Ministries Mission Tithes.
The $4 million dollar reduction to World Ministries for fiscal year 2010
directly affected 77 World Church staff in some way. Forty of those people
were involuntarily separated from church employment. Budget and staff
reductions will also require a decrease in World Church-funded ministries
and support services.
Sustainable giving is needed to support pursuit of mission throughout the
world. As disciples we receive God’s generous grace and respond by giving
consistently, according to our true capacity, to support Local and World
Ministries. Our response is both spiritual and tangible.
Check here each month for the current status of World
Ministries contributions.

*Due to manual reporting by some jurisdictions, actual income will take
several months to finalize. If you have a question about this update, please
contact the Presiding Bishopric at
presidingbishopric@CofChrist.org or 1001 W. Walnut, Independence, MO
64050.
Disciples generally make contributions to the church during worship
services by using Mission Tithes offering
envelopes. Sharing equally with both Congregation Ministries and
World Ministries will help "meet the needs of a growing church."
