Whereas, The call to be a prophetic church is in reality a call to answer the needs of those that hunger and thirst for justice and dignity; and

Whereas, The vision and mission of the church is to promote communities of joy, hope, love, and peace while we try to build Zion in today’s world; and

Whereas, Access to health care is frequently influenced by discrimination such that the weakest and marginalized among our people are usually excluded; and

Whereas, Modern medicine has many resources that can help victims of HIV-AID, but international distribution systems and cost structures prevent these medicines from reaching all those who need them; and

Whereas, The Community of Christ is deeply involved in the struggle against such issues as world hunger, injustice, war, and globalization while seeking to promote peace and justice among all of God’s children; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the World Conference request the First Presidency to establish a committee authorized to prepare a statement concerning the involvement of the church in the struggle against HIV-AIDS including addressing the issues of ignorance, poverty and exclusion; and be it further

Resolved, That the World Church, through its members and ministers involve itself more intentionally in the struggle against HIV-AIDS through active involvement in disseminating information, as well as supportive pastoral care to the victims of HIV-AIDS.
