Invitation |
|
In the name of Jesus Christ, I welcome all who are gathered here and all who join us around the world in praying for peace, as represented by the empty seats among us.
Each day in this Temple dedicated to the pursuit of peace, we pray for peace and uphold one of the nations of our world.
Today we remember the people of Ecuador in our prayers. The "Republic of the Equator" is located in South America, and is the smallest country in the rugged Andean highlands. Ecuador has an array of vibrant indigenous cultures, well-preserved colonial architecture, volcanic landscapes and dense rainforest. Ecuador’s government is dealing with unrest in opposition to widespread privatization, the dollarization of the economy and other International Monetary Fund proposals, which threaten to raise costs of essential goods and services.
As we unite in worship, may our hearts and minds be open to God’s spirit of love as we pursue communities of justice and peace for the people of Ecuador and all nations. |

Prayer for Peace

Eternal Creator; —Your act of creation brought peaceful order out of chaos. Here in this sacred space dedicated to peace, we petition you and seek your multiplying blessing upon our humble efforts as peacemakers.
We long for a peaceful world; a world of justice and mercy; a world of forgiveness and love. Remind us that such a world must begin in our own hearts and minds; must spread through our families and then through an ever-widening circle of friends, neighbors, communities and nations.
Forgive our unpeaceful acts of self-centeredness and greed, and challenge us to be more peaceful in all of our relationships.
Grant in our hearts that peace which passes understanding, and bless us in our desire to share that peace with our neighbors throughout each day.
This is our prayer in the name of the one who stilled the wind and waves with a word, Amen. |
