Arizona Winter Reunion Warms Hearts

by Mike Hoffman, Arizona USA Mission Center

Some come from locations scattered across Arizona. Others come from much farther away, especially states to the north and east.

Many seek to avoid the snow, ice, and freezing temperatures of winter. Instead, for nearly a week they bask in the warmth provided by the leaders, guest ministers, and other attendees of the annual Arizona Winter Reunion.

The event this year is scheduled February 19–24 with the theme, “Signal Communities…Live Christ’s Mission.” Apostles Stassi Cramm and Scott Murphy will serve as guest ministers.
This year’s reunion will carry on a long-standing tradition—more than 30 years. Last year’s event featured the ministry of Presiding Evangelist David Brock and Carolyn Brock, Spirituality and Wholeness Ministries specialist.

The reunion is designed for retirees living in Arizona, the many winter residents, and visitors. Last year, more than 125 participants from across the USA found their way to the Phoenix Central Congregation.

The reunion dealt with “Wholeness through Christ: Balance and Connection,” focusing on five of the nine enduring principles. The reunion ended on a Friday, using the theme “All Are Called.” David Brock spoke, and afterward a sending forth service featured Carolyn Brock and Barbara Walden, executive director of the Community of Christ Historic Sites Foundation.

Ruth Anderson of Sun City West, Arizona, found joy in seeing so many friends from across the USA. “I can’t imagine missing this wonderful event.”

Dick and Louita Clothier of Lamoni, Iowa, agreed. “We have attended the Arizona Winter Reunion for several years, and as a result have formed many treasured friendships. We enjoy the varied format of classes and worship.”
