Submit Songs for the New Hymnal
When we sing about what we believe, song becomes an integral part of shaping
us as disciples of Jesus Christ in the Community of Christ. The church’s hymnal
project is designed to help us clearly articulate and celebrate our mission and
identity, and acknowledges the importance of what we sing.
The principles that guide our witness and ministry as a worldwide church will
guide the musical selections to be included in the new song and hymn resources.
A two-piece hymnal is scheduled to be presented at the 2013 World Conference,
and the work has already begun. Your input is desired!
Respond to a Survey of Current Songs
Visit www.CofChrist.org/hymnal/
to provide feedback on which hymns/songs found in Hymns of the Saints, Sing for
Peace, Sing a New Song, and By Request should be carried forward into the new
resources. The survey will be available through December 31.
Open Submissions
Songs that speak to our mission and identity that are not in Hymns of the
Saints, Sing for Peace, Sing a New Song, or By Request
should be submitted to the Hymnal Steering Team for consideration. The source of
the piece must be able to be documented. Complete
instructions.
The following types of submissions can be accepted as hard copies or printable
electronic files, accompanied by a downloadable form:
- Original work with musical notation. If you have an original piece that needs
musical notation, see a list of available
volunteers.
- Original text in poetic form.
- A photocopy or scan of a song from another source (including a copy of the
source’s copyright page).
Open submissions will be accepted from October 1, 2008, to April 15, 2009. Send
songs with accompanying submission form to hymnal project administrator
