Get
Ready for the Herald Makeover
For more than 150 years, the Herald has been sharing stories
that emphasize the church’s mission and message. The Herald Team has been
working hard to launch a redesigned magazine that will debut next month.
[April 2010]
The new design will appeal to modern reading habits and younger readers without
abandoning the substance popular with longtime readers. A layout that emphasizes
photos, graphics, creative use of space, plus a new font will enhance the
magazine’s readability.
Reporting on key events and bringing you comprehensive features related to our
identity, mission, and message continue to be the Herald’s priority. Many of
your favorites will remain, including “Voices” and “Amen.”
A new section, “Celebrate Community,” will include what you have enjoyed in
“Snapshots & Snippets” (photos, news briefs, and listings of superannuations,
awards, birthdays, and anniversaries) while highlighting missional efforts
throughout the worldwide church. You’ll even find favorite recipes for your
church potlucks.
New sections will highlight the many characteristics of church life:
-
“Journey Ahead” will offer lead articles by the First
Presidency and other church leaders on what matters most.
-
“One in Christ” will share stories and photographs that
celebrate the unity and cultural diversity of our church community.
-
“Answers & Insights” will feature key interviews and Q&As on
topics important to the worldwide church.
-
“Sacramental Living” will provide stories of generosity in
action, recognizing how members share their time, talents, resources,
ministry, and sacraments.
Two more sections will work in tandem to address lifelong
disciple formation:
-
“Let the Spirit Breathe” will give practical ways to make
spiritual formation part of your daily life.
-
“Faithful Steps” will provide new pathways for discipleship
from ministers and ministerial specialists.
