Mid-Atlantic USA Mission Center—We Are Many, We Are One!

Each Sunday we are invited to “share equally” with Mission Tithes for local and world ministries. These stories are provided to keep us in touch with how your contributions to Mission Tithes are spreading the peace of Jesus Christ.

This story, We Are Many, We Are One!, takes us to the Mid-Atlantic USA Mission Center. Greg Ardito reflects: In August 2008 the Mid-Atlantic USA Mission Center sponsored a youth venture to the country of Zambia in the heart of Africa. For two years before the event the venture group showed their perseverance by fulfilling dozens of requirements, including creating a hands-on interactive Vacation Church School for the Zambian communities. As a result the young adults were forever changed by the journey they shared with their Zambian church family. “We are many, we are one” became their theme. These young adults continue to pass on their powerful ministry and testimonies throughout the mission center as well as other areas of the church.

World Ministries Mission Tithes directly impacted this youth venture to Africa through full-time ministers. These ministers helped develop the young people into wonderfully equipped disciples for Christ. Without the generous giving to World Ministries Mission Tithes, this life-changing experience between two unique and diverse communities would not have happened. Now when these young people say they are active members of an international church, they have witnessed that on a deeply personal level. From Doctrine and Covenants 162:7d, we read: The call to respond is urgent. Look to the needs of your own congregations, but look also beyond your walls to the far-flung places where the church must go. Each disciple needs a spiritual home.

Sharing our Mission Tithes equally between local and world ministries is part of sharing the peace of Jesus Christ. Let us share in the prayer of blessing for our offering.
