Central and Michigan USA Mission Field—Seeing: Congregational Life Workshop

Each Sunday we are invited to “share equally” with Mission Tithes for local and world ministries. These stories are provided to keep us in touch with how your contributions to Mission Tithes are spreading the peace of Jesus Christ.

This story, Seeing: Congregational Life Workshop, takes us to the Central and Michigan USA Mission Field. In our modern, fast – paced world, communication can be instant (instant messaging, chat groups, texting). Sometimes, though, we need to reflect and renew, restore and revitalize. Thanks to scholarships provided by the African American Ministries Council, that’s just what five young adults had the opportunity to do during the 2008 Congregational Life Workshop at Graceland University. This was the single largest group of African American Saints to attend CLW in recent memory.

Everyone who attended felt a renewal of spirit and energy as they returned to their congregations. Justin Spurlock wants to continue to support young adult African American ministries. Corrine Drones wants to begin a new urban congregation in St. Louis. Tanya Moore vows to continue her efforts in working with urban ministry in Detroit. The group felt they were embraced as a part of the entire CLW experience. These energized young adults don’t want to miss seeing even one opportunity to witness! Your contributions to World Ministries Mission Tithes support opportunities for ministry and ministers, such as scholarships to CLW. C. Blessing on Our Offering

From John 1:50 (NRSV) we read: Jesus answered, “Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than these.”

Sharing our Mission Tithes equally between local and world ministries changes our lives and those who receive the blessings from it. Let us share in the prayer of blessing for our offering.
