SUSAN D. SKOOR

Susan Skoor is a member of the Council of Twelve Apostles, the lead
missionary quorum of the Community of Christ. She is assigned to the Pacific
Mission Field, which includes the Australia Mission Centre, French Polynesia
Mission Centre, Greater Pacific Northwest USA Mission Center, Pacific Island
Mission Centre, Sierra Pacific USA Mission Center, Southern California USA
Mission Center, Southwest International (Mexico/USA) Mission Center.
A full-time minister since 2002, she was ordained an apostle in June 2005.
Her previous assignment was the Western USA Mission Field. Prior to that, Susan
served as Central Pacific Region president and Sierra Pacific Mission Center
financial officer.
Before becoming a full-time minister, Susan served Seattle Stake Office of
the Community of Christ as secretary, office manager, and executive assistant.
She also has served as Seattle Stake youth director.
Born in Saint Joseph, Missouri, Susan graduated from Lakenheath American High
School in Great Britain. She holds a degree in biology with a minor in chemistry
from Saginaw Valley University and a master of arts in religion from Graceland
University.
Susan, who was raised in an Air Force family, has experienced a variety of
cultures: American, French, Japanese, Spanish, and English. She has traveled for
pleasure in the British Isles and Western Europe.
Susan and her late husband, John B. Skoor, have two daughters: Marie, married
to Jonathan Shipley; and Christie, married to Christian Skoorsmith. Susan is
also the proud grandparent of one grandchild, Grace Shipley. Her other interests
include writing, hiking, reading, art and cultural events, and nature.
